Pattern Cutting
Today I started making the pattern for my final manifesto design. I was really worried about the lesson as a lot of other people had said they didn't get much work done and didn't know what they were doing. But I really had fun making mine. Jodie, Caroline and Jane couldn't decide how I should make my pattern which was a bit worrying cause if they couldn't figure it out how was I supposed to!? But although my design appears quite simple there are a lot of different ways to make it. I started with the bodice block and moved the darts. I then spent ages measuring up the tape I had put on the stand but it was too confusing to translate these to my paper pattern. So I decided to add seam allowances to the pattern which had the new darts. Then I sewed up the darts and pinned the calico to the stand and drew on where all the details needed to go. This is all I did for the whole lesson but I really enjoyed it and can't wait to carry on on monday. I think thats the first time I've looked forward to a monday lesson. They also told me I am going to have to make at least three toiles which doesn't sound too bad but will mean a lot of work.
